  1. I truly think Jane's experience is very important for our district. She is the type of story we need to be successful in this venture. I was surprised by how poorly she said her PD was at the start of the 1:1 initiative. I feel less anxious after hearing how successful she has been in implementing technology in the classroom while still keeping her own classroom identity.

  2. I feel less anxious hearing Jane's experience because she described integrating technology as a process rather than an immediate goal. I think it is important to frame technology as a word bank of tools to adapt lessons.

  3. I enjoyed hearing a believer talk about how wonderful the experience can be.

I was surprised at how useful voicethread could be with quizzes and tests.

I don't feel anxious at all!!

  4. One takeaway from this experience is "one tool, one class at a time" if successful add the same tool to the another class and go from there.

One thing that surprised me was that her lesson planning didn't change.

I feel less anxious after hearing it took her years to feel confidant...and that we will need to be given time to feel successful.

  5. 1. One takeaway from this experience is I feel more confident speaking and coaching the teachers in my department.

    2. One thing that surprised me was how she made such a transformation--A traditional classroom teacher who felt reluctant and uncomfortable with technology, but then transformed into a educational technology leader.

    3. I feel less anxious after hearing how she focused on implementing technology into one classroom and using one program- this sets a much more realistic goal for our teachers

  6. I was sad but not terribly surprised that she was disappointed by the PD experience at the beginning. The commitment our district has made to ensure quality professional development has been outstanding.

  7. - I enjoyed her advice on how to take one class first and work to a larger and larger group.

    - How she was not one of the "tech" teachers and now she is advanced at it.

    - See second bullet.

  8. I feel less anxious after hearing how after teaching for 19 years, she was able to successfully incorporate the new technology slowly into her lessons. I am probably a bit more tech savy then she was back then but I felt the same way she did when this training started. I feel a little more confident now that I have heard her story.

  9. One takeaway from this experience is the ability to use Google maps in a quiz to give directions in a foreign language.
One thing that surprised me was that her students do not use a word processor to take notes
I feel less anxious after hearing the expectation of technology use in the classroom

    1. Stephanie,
A suggestion may be to have one student role as the class note taker. One student to have ownership over this responsibility to minimize distraction and still have documentation of class notes available for all to access.
      =D

  10. I loved this learning experience. Being able to talk to Jane was a great experience. I liked how she said to not change your lesson simply enhance it with technology. I was surprised to find that Jane was apprehensive to use technology at first. She has learned so many new tools and has become very comfortable with technology in just 9 years. I feel less anxious about using the chromebooks because I realize I can use them at appropriate moments, not all the time.
